Crumar originated in late 1960s Italy from the Crucianelli accordion company, founded by Mario Crucianelli alongside partner Marchetti, evolving into a prominent manufacturer of electronic musical instruments through the 1970s and 1980s. The company produced innovative keyboards like electronic pianos, string synthesizers such as the Stringman and Multiman, and pioneering synthesizers including the DS-2 with early digitally controlled oscillators and the Spirit, designed by Bob Moog, Jim Scott, and Tom Rhea. Key figures like Sante Crucianelli and Luciano Jura drove its modern design ethos and international focus, particularly in the U.S. market. After ceasing operations in 1986, the brand was revived in 2008 by VMConnection under Andrea Agnoletto, shifting toward digital stage pianos, organs like the Mojo series, and faithful reissues such as the Spirit, maintaining a legacy of high-quality acoustic emulations and analog-inspired instruments.
