Deftaudio

Mather, CA, United States

Deftaudio began in 2008 in a garage, founded by Andrei Kudryavtsev, initially developing MIDI controllers like a laser harp and multi-touch surface alongside unique acoustic instruments such as the DreamBall tongue drum. The company relocated multiple times, from Russia to Germany and settling in the US since 2014. Today it focuses on manufacturing boutique instruments including the acclaimed Luma-1 drum machine—a modern reimplementation of the Roger Linn LM-1 with added USB, MIDI, and sample features—along with MIDI utility kits, Eurorack modules, and restoration services for vintage music computers like the Fairlight CMI, Emulator, Kurzweil, and Synclavier.
