Doepfer Musikelektronik GmbH was founded by Dieter Doepfer in the late 1970s in Gräfelfing, Germany, initially producing components like voltage-controlled phase shifters and Curtis filter ICs supplied to companies such as Waldorf and Dynacord. In 1992, the company released the MAQ16/3 MIDI analog sequencer in collaboration with Kraftwerk. Dieter Doepfer revolutionized modular synthesis by introducing the Eurorack standard with the A-100 system in 1995, enabling widespread compatibility and sparking the modern Eurorack ecosystem. Doepfer continues to manufacture a vast range of analog modular systems, MIDI controllers, sequencers, and interfaces exclusively in Europe.
