Farfisa originated in 1946 as Fabbriche Riunite di Fisarmoniche, formed by the merger of three Italian accordion manufacturers—Settimo Soprani, Scandalli, and Frontalini—in the town of Castelfidardo. The company rapidly grew to become the world's largest accordion producer before pivoting to electronics in the late 1950s, pioneering mass-produced electronic organs like the legendary Compact series that defined the sound of rock music in the 1960s and 1970s, favored by artists such as Pink Floyd and Elton John. In 1967, its intercom division was established, evolving into an independent brand by 1993 focused on video door entry systems, access control, and communication technologies, now exported to over 60 countries with an emphasis on Italian design, innovation, and reliability.
