Hammond
The Hammond Organ originated with inventor Laurens Hammond, who filed a patent for his electrical musical instrument on April 24, 1934, leading to the debut of the Model A in 1935. Initially developed by the Hammond Clock Company in Chicago, it evolved into the Hammond Instrument Company amid booming sales during the Great Depression, producing iconic tonewheel organs that became staples in churches, homes, and music scenes. Acquired by Suzuki Musical Instruments in 1991 after earlier challenges, the brand continues to produce new organs while honoring its legacy.
