Leaf Audio was founded in 2008 by Manuel Richter, a musician and audio engineer, initially as a production studio. In 2009, Richter launched the DIY workshop series, which grew into one of Germany's most recognized programs. Since 2016, the focus has shifted toward Exploding Shed as a distributor for synthesizer DIY kits, while continuing to design instruments for body sound recording used in field recording and sound design.
