MFB

Berlin, Germany

MFB was founded by engineer Manfred Fricke in Berlin during the late 1970s, initially in 1976 according to some accounts or 1979 per others, recognizing early demand for affordable analog instruments. The company gained recognition with pioneering drum machines like the MFB-501, one of Germany's best-selling units that outsold the Roland TR-808 in some shops, alongside the 301, digital sequencer MFB-601, and MFB-512, all offered at exceptionally low prices. Fricke continued innovating through multiple eras, producing flagship products such as the Tanzbär series and Dominion 1 exmasters up to recent years, even as he passed away in June 2021, with plans announced for the company to continue.
