Steiner-Parker

Salt Lake City, Utah

Steiner-Parker was founded in the mid-1970s in Salt Lake City, Utah, by Nyle Steiner and Dick Parker along with a third partner. The company quickly developed a range of analog synthesizers including the monophonic Synthacon, released in 1975 as an affordable competitor to the Minimoog and ARP Odyssey, and the modular SynthaSystem, which shared the same circuitry. Additional products encompassed the compact Minicon and the pioneering Electronic Valve Instrument (EVI), a trumpet-style controller designed for brass players. Notable for Nyle Steiner's design of the two-pole resonant filter still used in modern synthesizers, the boutique manufacturer produced handcrafted instruments until dissolving in 1979.
