dn2_firmware_explore provides firmware research tools and a collection of modifications for the Elektron Digitone II, primarily OS 1.11. Features include a fourth per-voice LFO, additional modulation destinations, effects modulation, new LFO waveforms and user tables, MIDI-track arpeggiation, extra arp modes, MIDI layering, custom boot artwork, transient-bank replacement and fixes for reload confirmation, damaged song data and LFO ONE/HALF behavior. Waverider adds an alpha wavetable machine with two wavetable oscillators, a sub-oscillator, noise and tables loaded through the project’s documented +Drive workflow. Browser tools and a Python command line patch the user’s own official OS; the site creates firmware files but does not flash the instrument. The author records hardware-confirmed features and several tested combinations, with a compatibility matrix for other combinations. That evidence is feature- and revision-specific: some later fixes are emulator-only, Waverider remains alpha, and saved sounds may change across versions. Original Digitone/Keys research in the repository does not establish those devices as targets for these Digitone II mods. Read the current per-feature status, back up the +Drive, and verify the stock recovery route before installing.
