Matriarch Firmware Fixes is an unofficial set of bug fixes for the Moog Matriarch, applied to a copy of Moog's final official firmware release. One fix shortens how long a released note keeps sounding in the two- and four-note paraphonic modes, so staccato notes played over a held note or chord, and fast runs with overlapping keys, stop when the key comes up instead of smearing together, while chords lifted together still ring out through the envelope release. A simpler mode that gives every released note the short hold is also available. The second fix makes the HOLD button send MIDI sustain to connected gear only when the arpeggiator or sequencer is not running, so latching a pattern doesn't sustain every note on external instruments. Fixes are chosen in a browser-based patcher that works locally on the owner's own firmware file, with a command-line version also provided, and the patched file is sent to the Matriarch with a SysEx tool using Moog's usual update procedure. The original firmware can be restored the same way, and the bootloader is never touched.
Installing third-party firmware can brick your unit and may void its warranty. Back up first and follow the project's instructions.
