MPC-Force-SSH-Firmwares provides Akai's official firmware for the Force and first-generation MPCs such as the MPC Live with two additions: root SSH access and USB mouse support. Nothing else in the firmware changes, and installing an official Akai update returns the device to stock. SSH lets you move and edit files on the internal file system from a computer, and a connected mouse adds an on-screen cursor for precise editing. The repository includes the scripts to patch a stock image yourself, so you can build and compare it instead of trusting a download. Second-generation MPCs aren't supported, and changing system files over SSH can leave a device unrecoverable.

MockbaMod extends the Akai Force while it keeps running Akai's factory firmware. A lightly modified firmware image looks for a MockbaMod SD card at boot and loads its add-ons and apps from it; without the card, the Force starts exactly as stock. It adds scene automation that launches scenes hands-free for accompaniment, foot-controller triggering of pad-board buttons, tempo automation, access to some MPC Key 61 screens hidden in the Force software, multi-boot into older firmware for testing a project, SSH and SFTP file access, and custom arpeggios. Add-ons extend it further, such as using a first-generation Ableton Push as an extra pad board or viewing the Force screen over VNC. Firmware images are built for specific Force versions, so match the image to your firmware before installing.

MPC-LiveXplore bootstrap runs custom Linux modules on an Akai MPC or Force at boot, from a folder on an SD card or USB stick, before the MPC software starts. It needs an MPC-LiveXplore modified firmware image, which launches the bootstrap. Modules are switched on in a simple list and cover networking and remote control (RTP-MIDI over the network, a VNC server, screen streaming), workflow additions (an overlay that adds thousands of arp patterns, a Windows file-share client), pausing SSH during a performance, and IamForce2, which runs the Force software on an MPC with a supported controller. Removing the card and rebooting returns the device to its normal start-up, and each boot writes a log to the card.
Force Link Audio

Force Link Audio streams the Akai Force's audio over the network as an Ableton Link Audio channel while the Force stays fully standalone, with its pads, screen and controls working as usual. Any Link Audio receiver on the same network can pick it up, such as Ableton Live or an iPad. A small tap inside the Force software copies each audio buffer to a separate process that publishes the Link channel, so a network fault can't interrupt the audio engine. It is a MockbaMod add-on installed through the OpenMPC add-in installer, and network publishing stays off until you enable it.

akai_standalone_remap remaps the hardware buttons of a first-generation Akai MPC Live or a Force: any button can open any screen, and buttons gain double taps, long presses and Shift layers. A small library loaded with the MPC software rewrites the controller's button messages, so the software sees ordinary presses, pad hits or screen taps. The MPC Live layout turns Pad Bank A-D and the + and - buttons into shortcuts to the Mode Menu, whose icons you rearrange to choose each target. The Force layout opens Master with a double tap of Mixer and gives Knobs short, long and double-press actions. Holding Shift keeps a button's original function. Installing it needs root SSH access, and emptying its configuration file turns remapping off without uninstalling.
