Open-XY is an experimental development kit and browser builder for custom instruments and effects on the Teenage Engineering OP-XY. Developers write sound and display code in C++, audition it in a browser through WebAssembly, and build it for the hardware’s Blackfin processor. The SDK provides interfaces for synths, sample engines and send effects, with example machines and a catalog of community projects. The browser builder lets owners select machines and optional extensions, check memory use, and build a customized image locally from their own OP-XY OS file. Saved layouts keep machine assignments consistent across builds. Documentation covers creating a first machine, APIs, display design, firmware builds and hardware profiling. Firmware builds require the exact stock OP-XY OS 1.2.1 file; browser previews can be used without modifying a device.

Installing third-party firmware can brick your unit and may void its warranty. Back up first and follow the project's instructions. Read the docs.
