OT Kyoti FW is a collection of modifications for the Elektron Octatrack's operating system, built from the owner's own copy of the official OS file. Each feature can be built on its own or combined into an all-in-one image, every feature is off by default so a freshly flashed unit behaves like stock until enabled, and a set of fixes for stock bugs is always included. The features include selectable mute behaviours that let effect tails ring out or let sounding voices finish, an external sidechain key for the compressor with a band filter on the key, a clock-locked direct pattern jump, a TB-303-style bass voice as a track machine with accents, slides and ties, tempo-locked tape-style varispeed with optional 12-bit sampler emulations, reloading one track's saved sequence without stopping the transport, a front-panel toggle for quantized live recording, removal of empty trigless locks and per-track muting of recorder trigs. Several of these take their processing space from the spring reverb, which is removed from the effect lists in those builds.

Octabam

Octabam is an unofficial community firmware remixer for the Elektron Octatrack MKI and MKII. Developed by Sam Banks with community contributions, it combines selected modules into a custom operating-system image built from the owner’s copy of Elektron OS 1.40C. The repository’s own code is MIT licensed; it does not distribute Elektron firmware or prebuilt images. Depending on the chosen remix, modules add custom delay, reverb, modulation and filter effects, synthesis, sequencer changes, expanded kit and scene workflows, USB audio and MIDI, and bug fixes. Users can select an existing remix or compose their own combination. Module validation and hardware testing vary; the project documents those limits individually, along with build, installation and recovery instructions.

Octatrick is a set of additions to the Elektron Octatrack's operating system, built into a single firmware image from the owner's own copy of the official OS file. It adds two synthesis machines to the machine list: a two-operator FM synth that plays mono or paraphonic chords from a set of chord shapes and inversions, with legato and glide, and a two-oscillator percussion voice with sweep, a filter and its own LFO and sample and hold, both with step and scene locks. Because these voices run on the main processor, the number of synth tracks per Part is limited. A scale quantizer snaps pitch knobs, locks, the chromatic keys and what the sequencer plays to a chosen scale and root, with glide, and covers MIDI track notes, chords and the arpeggiator, with per-track opt-outs for drum tracks. Direct pattern jump lets a newly chosen pattern start on the next step at the position the old one had reached, a tuner window shows note and cents for the current audio track, and the tempo popup can show processor load. The full build also adds USB MIDI, multichannel USB audio output and USB audio input routed to the inputs, while dropping the stock spatializer effect. The image is installed from the CompactFlash card or over MIDI.
PassOS

Custom firmware for the Elektron Octatrack MK1 — the passenger mod. A scale system and a STOP guard, on top of stock OS 1.40C. Every one of the fourteen stock FX2 effects is untouched and nothing is placed on the DSP, so the unit sounds exactly as it always did. Tested and running on hardware. Built on octabam by Sam Banks, which composes a firmware image out of your own copy of Elektron's OS 1.40C. Octabam's own README is kept here as OCTABAM.md — read it for how the remixer works, what a module is, and how to write one.
