P600FW is a replacement processor and firmware for the Sequential Circuits Prophet-600. A modified Teensy++ 2.0 microcontroller board plugs into the synthesizer's Z80 socket and runs new software for its six analog voices, giving finer parameter resolution and more responsive controls while the original voice hardware stays in place. The change is reversible: the original processor can be put back at any time, although units with a soldered-in Z80 first need a socket fitted. Builds from the repository's source also need a 24LC512 serial EEPROM chip wired to the Teensy board to hold the patches, so reflashing the Teensy over USB leaves them in place. The firmware replaces the envelopes and LFO with faster versions, offering slow and fast envelope speeds, linear and exponential shapes, positive and negative envelope amounts, extra LFO waveforms and a dedicated vibrato on the mod wheel. It also adds mix overdrive, unison chord mode, per-note tuning and a vintage spread setting that varies tuning and envelopes between voices. An arpeggiator and a polyphonic step sequencer can follow MIDI or analog clock, alongside several note-priority modes, pitch-wheel range and routing options, and full MIDI control with velocity, controllers for sound parameters, program changes and SysEx patch dumps.
