  • .mod File Tracker Importer

    .mod File Tracker Importer

    utilitygithub.com

I’ve been working on an Ableton Live Extension for importing classic tracker .mod files into Live as editable MIDI/Simpler tracks. It supports local .mod files and single ModArchive URL imports from https://modarchive.org/, extracts the samples, keeps as much of the tracker structure as possible, and shows a short import report with sample and effect information. It is not a full tracker file converter, but it is useful for bringing old MOD ideas into Ableton for editing and remixing. Limitations: some tracker effects, especially pitch slides, vibrato, fine pitch changes, and full playback automation, cannot be recreated exactly yet because the current Extensions SDK does not expose everything needed for that. More SDK access to MIDI pitch bend and automation would make this much more powerful. In the YoutTube demo I import “Beams of Light” by Walkman (Tor Bernhard Gausen), one of my favourite MODs from 1989. Around ten years later, in the late 1990s, it was covered by Hardy Hard as “Silversurfer”.

SplitScope: True center/side extraction for Audio Clips

    utilitygithub.com

Right-click any audio clip in Live to extract Center, Sides, Left, Right, or Mixed audio with a live spectrogram preview. SplitScope is written in Rust + TypeScript and processes rendered clip audio locally. How to use 1. Right-click any audio clip. 2. Choose Open SplitScope.... 3. Adjust Mode, Strength, Threshold, Width, and Brightness. 4. Hit Preview to loop the processed audio. 5. Click inside the Spectrogram view to seek the preview. 6. Click Apply to import the extracted result back into the Live project. I wanted a fast way to isolate center or side content directly inside Live. Utility can be great for this - it does fixed M/S matrixing: Mid is essentially L+R, Side is essentially L-R, but SplitScope is an extraction tool: it analyses the audio by frequency, then lets you dial in how much center or side content to keep/remove, with preview + spectrogram before printing it back into Live.

  • Freeze Point

    Freeze Point

    utilityrbld.com.br

Right-click any track → pick a freeze point in the device chain → everything to the left gets printed to a new audio track, devices to the right stay live. Beta / Proof of Concept — feedback welcome, expect rough edges. Freeze Point adds partial-freeze to Ableton Live: select exactly where in your device chain the signal gets "baked," keep the rest editable. No more freezing the full chain or bouncing manually. How it works: The current Extensions SDK doesn't expose device on/off or post-FX resampling, so Freeze Point ships with a companion Max for Live device that handles the audio engine. The extension provides the UI (context menu + device chain picker); M4L does the heavy lifting. Requirements: Ableton Live 12 + Extensions beta Max for Live (included in Live Suite / add-on) Install the .amxd on any track (Master recommended) Download: https://rbld.com.br/audio/downloads/freeze-point-1.0.0.zip More tools & presets: https://rbld.com.br/audio Support / feedback: robledosilva@gmail.com Newsletter: robledosilva@gmail.com (subject: subscribe) Known limitations: Prints Arrangement clips only (Session view → silence) Bridge uses a file in ~/Documents — will break if SDK sandbox tightens Racks show as single device (no deep-chain support yet) Live 12.x / Extensions SDK beta

I always wish Ableton would add a random clickable button to their Instruments & Fx devices (not when they are racked), now it's possible with this 'lil extension. This is another cool starting point, when you find something sounding good, you can go further in sound designing Drift, or simply save this state as a new preset. You can choose a percentage of randomness from 0 to 100%. Initial start is 50%. Installation Double-click the .ablx file with Live Beta open (Developer Mode enabled in Preferences → Extensions). • Disintegrative Iterations

    Disintegrative Iterations

    destructivegumroad.com

A loop, fed back into itself until only a ghost remains. Cumulative tape decay, after Basinski. Each pass eats the previous one — never the original. The material thins, holes open and stay open, the spectrum closes, the tape tears and drifts. What you get back is a continuous recording of the sound undoing itself. Nothing added, no reverb, no noise — everything was already in the source, surfaced and consumed by repetition. Built with the new Ableton Extensions SDK (currently in closed beta). Pay what you want, including free — it's meant to circulate. https://structurevoid.gumroad.com/l/disintegrative-iterations A tribute to William Basinski and The Disintegration Loops. Happy to hear feedback, ideas, weird use cases. — Julien

  • Ableton SDK Model Context Protocol (MCP)

    experimentalgithub.com

An Ableton MCP server made purely via Ableton Extensions SDK + Agent Skills to allow coding agents operate Ableton Live, for long-running music production sessions. Link and extension download: https://github.com/jasper-zheng/ableton-sdk-mcp This MCP is targeted for coding agents (for instance, Claude Code, not Claude) Rationale: Acknowledging several great Ableton MCP servers already built by the community. This one is built with a different approach: allowing Claude Code directly executes TypeScript inside Live via the extension SDK, unlike previous Live MCPs that hard-codes tools. So ideally, Claude Code operates a session with all operations supported by the SDK. Honestly I don't know which approach works better so I built this to see how it works... Known limitations: (Hopefully to offer some feedback for the new amazing SDK : ) Built-in Live devices only (VST/AU or preset loading are not allowed by the SDK) - Audio render is pre-FX (post-FX not allowed by the SDK) - All Drum Rack has no samples (the SDK can't load factory kits) - Operations like undo, rewind, etc. is limited (undo / version control not allowed by the SDK) - No automation / clip envelopes (not allowed by the SDK) - No transport/playback control (not allowed by the SDK) - Clip length/loop fixed at creation (modifying them is not allowed by the SDK)

  • Late Romantic Harmonizer | MIDI

    Late Romantic Harmonizer | MIDI

    generativegumroad.com

Late Romantic Harmonizer is an Ableton Live Extension for generating four-part tonal harmony from a MIDI exercise line. It is designed for bass exercises and soprano exercises, with a focus on functional harmony, voice leading, and late-Romantic harmonic color. The Extension reads the notes inside a MIDI clip, treats either the lowest note or the highest note at each rhythmic position as the fixed exercise line, then writes the missing voices back into the same clip. Main Features - Four-part harmony generation inside Ableton Live - Bass Exercise mode: keeps the bass line and generates Tenor, Alto, and Soprano - Soprano Exercise mode: keeps the soprano line and generates Bass, Tenor, and Alto - Tonic selection with clear enharmonic names such as D Flat (C Sharp) - Major and minor mode selection Download: https://akihiko-matsumoto.gumroad.com/l/Ableton-Late-Romantic-Harmonizer

  • midi-note-index-select

    midi-note-index-select

    utilitygithub.com

An Ableton Live 12 Beta extension that transposes MIDI notes by index pattern. By Gregg Mazel — [mazelmusicalarts.org](https://www.mazelmusicalarts.org/) Built with help from Claude AI [Extension] midi-note-index-select — transpose MIDI notes by index patterns. Just built my first Ableton Live 12 Beta extension. Right-click any MIDI clip to transpose every Nth note, odd/even notes, or custom intervals — with optional scale snap. I had almost given up on writing this one, since it was my first one, and I was having a lot of trouble just getting Live to show selected midi clip notes in the piano roll. I started looking around to see if anybody else had made anything like this and I eventually did find a Max4Live .amxd file by Dennis DeSantis, which is excellent. Dennis's Max4Live version has many more features than mine. Still, my original idea was to simply right-click to select the notes in any midi clip based on indexing rules, and not to necessarily transpose them in the same operation. The panel version of this extension let's users try things in the GUI before committing on the midi notes. Pretty cool. see Dennis's Selection Filter here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcsJf0GqCc4 My version as an Ableton Extension is here: GitHub: github.com/gmazel/midi-note-index-select Feedback welcome — especially interested to hear if the MidiClip context menu scope works for others in the piano roll view.

  • Impulse Tracker extension for Ableton Live - MIDI pattern editor

Impulse Tracker extension for Ableton Live - MIDI pattern editor

    utilitydrive.google.com

Impulse Tracker extension for Ableton Live — a tracker-style MIDI pattern editor If you're nostalgic for the old-school tracker workflow and wish you could punch in notes the Impulse Tracker way — typing notes on the keyboard into a vertical pattern grid instead of dragging blocks around the piano roll — this Ableton extension brings that pattern editor right onto your MIDI clips. A bit of history for the unfamiliar: Impulse Tracker is a multi-track music tracker (music sequencer). Originally released in 1995 by Jeffrey Lim — it became one of the most beloved trackers of the DOS era, and this is a love letter to its pattern editor. What it does (one sentence): Right-click any MIDI clip in Ableton Live and edit its notes in a faithful Impulse Tracker–style grid — keyboard-driven note entry, channels as voices, NNN VV cells — then write it straight back to the clip. Download: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1T_CW7BSCkfNG7ct2WKkuFs0ghN7TJRch?usp=sharing Highlights Authentic IT keyboard layout (Z S X D C… lower octave, Q 2 W 3 E… upper) Notes, velocities, and note-offs in the classic tracker grid; channels = polyphony voices Octave numbering matches Live (C-3 = middle C / MIDI 60) Block select + copy / cut / paste, insert / delete row, add / remove channels and bars Reads your clip's existing notes in and writes edits back as a single undo step Known limitations: No clip resizing on save — Live's SDK exposes clip length as read-only, so notes you add past the clip length are written but won't fall inside a looping region. Ctrl+C/V/X (and Ctrl+S) are global Ableton shortcuts and may be captured before reaching the dialog — use the on-screen Copy / Cut / Paste toolbar buttons. Compatibility: Ableton Live 12 (the beta build with Extensions support; enable Developer Mode in Preferences → Extensions) Built on the Ableton Extensions SDK 1.0.0-beta.0 (API 1.0.0) ,

Arcade Games - Space Invaders and Pac Man

    experimentalwinterparkmusic.com

These Ableton Extensions were created using open source MIT licensed JavaScript files available by EJINEROZ on github: They are really just a bit of fun and allow you to play retro games within Ableton Live and output the 'game results' as MIDI notes within a MIDI Clip. The Space Invaders Extension lets you play Space invaders. Once your turn ends, any remaining aliens on screen become MIDI notes in a 1-bar, 16 step sequence. The MIDI notes and optimized to be used with a Drum Rack Instrument. Use the Z and X keys to curve your lazers. The PacMan Extension generates MIDI notes dependent on what colour ghost you eat and when you eat them. It picks from 5 notes in C major Pentatonic, with pitch defined by where in the game you eat the ghost. This works nicely for making semi-random ambient melodies. https://winterparkmusic.com/2026/06/03/ableton-extensions-arcade-games/
