sk-engines is alternate firmware for the Synthux Spotykach that keeps the instrument's panel, pads, knobs, clock, CV, MIDI and SD card behavior the same while swapping the sound engine underneath, so each firmware build turns the unit into a different instrument. Effect and instrument engines include a dual-deck granular looper, tempo-synced stereo delays with clean, tape, shimmer, diffused and ducking characters, plate, hall and diffuse reverbs, a chorus, a dual resonant filter, a Euclidean drum machine with synthesized voices, a resonator and plucked-string voice, and a dual macro-oscillator. Other builds work as tape-style tools: two SD-streamed record and playback decks, a four-track varispeed tape that can run in reverse, an overdub looper with crossfaded loops, and a dual radio-style player that tunes between banks of audio files. Two scriptable engines run Csound orchestras or ChucK programs loaded from the SD card and switch between them live. Each engine is flashed over the rear USB-C port, and a command-line tool or a browser page prepares the SD card for the engines that read it.
