Tauntek firmware is a replacement firmware for the Oberheim Matrix-1000 rack synthesizer that makes the instrument respond faster to parameter changes sent over MIDI. Many oscillator, pulse-width, filter, filter FM and VCA parameters are applied more quickly, with the VCA and several filter updates gaining the most, while envelope and LFO parameters, which already updated quickly, are left as they were. No parameter updates are skipped or discarded, so some delay remains on the original processor. It also adds a detune setting, fixes NRPN parameter addressing and the NRPN increment and decrement functions, and shows parameter values and the detune amount on the display as they are adjusted over MIDI. The firmware is installed by replacing the unit's program EPROM, either with a 27C256 programmed from the downloadable image or with a pre-programmed chip from the author. Very early units may need a small factory circuit change before they can run newer firmware.
