Kitbasher
firmwaregithub.com
Kitbasher is a browser-based firmware builder for the Elektron Machinedrum. It adds selected community drum and synthesis machines alongside the stock machines, lets users arrange their machine-menu categories, and exports a custom SysEx OS built from their own firmware file. Supported families include analogue drum and synth recreations, community synth voices, Befaco Noise Plethora programs, a Karplus–Strong string and a ladder-filter effect. Depending on the firmware base, builds also provide chromatic MIDI note input, pitch-note labels, an unmute-latency fix and selectable encoder speeds; X.14 additionally offers global filter/distortion/sample-rate-reduction ordering. Processing stays in the browser. Chrome can send the resulting firmware over Web MIDI, or it can be downloaded for a separate SysEx utility. The project documents physical-device tests for X.14 and beta md-26A09-132401; stock 1.63 is listed as emulator-tested, and X.20 patching is currently disabled. Users must select UW or non-UW so incompatible machines are excluded. Restore an earlier layout when rebuilding for existing kits, since saved kits depend on machine IDs. Keep a stock OS and backups; individual machines and recent changes have their own qualification limits.
