KeyboardDigitalPolyphonic

Back in 2005, this workstation stunned everyone by packing four distinct synthesis engines plus an 8-track hard disk recorder into one sleek silver chassis, all for a fraction of what rivals like the Korg Triton or Yamaha Motif demanded.

Available in 61-key semi-weighted or 88-key weighted versions, it delivers up to 190 voices of polyphony across sample playback (with WAV/SoundFont import and stereo sampling inputs), virtual analog (three oscillators with sync, FM, PWM, and 20 filter types including 4-band EQ), six-operator FM, and physical modeling—all powered by three Texas Instruments DSPs. Hands-on control shines with a logical layout: pitch/mod wheels, four assignable knobs via a performance grid (handling up to 16 parameters across ARP, filter, EQ, and custom rows), a big 240x128 backlit LCD, soft keys, data wheel, and transport buttons for its 32-track sequencer. Connectivity is pro-level with 8 balanced 1/4" inputs, main/aux outs, S/PDIF, ADAT, USB 2.0, MIDI I/O/Thru, pedal jacks, and storage via 40/80GB SATA drive, CompactFlash, or USB—plus velocity and aftertouch sensitivity, mod matrix, and 80 insert/send effects per patch.

Over the years, players have praised its sound design depth and value as a performance beast, though some note occasional reliability quirks typical of early digital workstations. Today, it's a vintage gem for builders seeking unlimited sample libraries and hybrid tones without breaking the bank.
