Classic FM gets a compact, modern home here, with the kind of character that only an original Yamaha YM2164 sound engine can bring. The FM-01 is a standalone 4-operator FM synthesizer built around that classic chip, giving you eight voices of polyphony and a focused design that fits neatly into a studio or MIDI rig.
It offers 240 factory voices and 96 user voices, plus multitimbral operation so up to eight instruments can be assigned to different MIDI channels. Control is kept straightforward with a 16x1 LCD and eight function and navigation buttons, making it practical for sound design, sequencing, and live use without getting lost in menus.
Connectivity is equally direct, with MIDI In, Out, and Thru, stereo 1/4-inch outputs, and a 9 V DC power input. From basses and electric pianos to bells, percussion, and other classic FM textures, the FM-01 is built to deliver a wide palette from a small box.
