Apæron is a Swedish synthesizer manufacturer that debuted at Superbooth 2026 with the AFOUR, a knobby polyphonic desktop synthesizer featuring two oscillators and A4-sized form factor. The company was established to challenge the design norms of modern hardware instruments by blending extensive, highly tactile hardware controls with a completely digital, unapologetic sonic architecture. Apæron operates on a "no menu-diving" design philosophy. They focus on giving performers direct, immediate access to all voice and synthesizer parameters via physical hardware controls. Instead of utilizing generic off-the-shelf components, Apæron designs its specialized hardware completely from scratch. This custom engineering includes their proprietary magnetic gaming-switch keyboard, custom-molded endless encoders, and dedicated visual feedback LED rings.
