Hana Desktop Drone Synthesizer

DesktopAnalogDuophonic

Inspired by Ray Wilson's classic Weird Sound Generator from Music From Outer Space, this desktop drone synth revives a beloved DIY circuit in a compact, colorful package that's perfect for endless ambient explorations.

Each of its two voices packs two voltage-controlled oscillators—Osc 1 always active—with a dedicated LFO for adding vibrato or stepped pitch shifts via the MOD knob. Shape the harmonics with the lowpass filter's frequency and output controls, tweak oscillator and LFO rates, and use switches like Gate for hard sync-like interactions between oscillators or Duo to unlock duophonic play. At 8 x 4 x 2.5 inches, it fits anywhere, runs on a 9V battery or adapter, and outputs via a single 6.35mm jack for easy amp or mixer hookup. The playful floral designs in options like red/blue or blue/white bring a fresh, uplifting vibe to drone gear.

Players love its ethereal, powerful analog tones and hands-on simplicity for live crossfading or recording, though some note the fixed architecture keeps things focused on drone rather than melodic leads.
