Pocket-sized experiments turn into finished pieces with this tiny four-track studio in your hand. tape! by Bedtime is a digital tape-style recorder and looper that treats every scrap of sound as material for sculpting, stretching and reimagining.
At its core are four asynchronous virtual tape heads, each capable of independent recording, looping and varispeed playback, so you can slow one layer down, reverse another, and let them drift against each other into lush, evolving textures. You can capture audio through the stereo line input or the built-in MEMS stereo microphones, then shape it with a configurable effects chain including delay, filters, modulation, bit-crushing, saturation, adjustable noise and tape-style coloration. Sound-on-sound overdubs, bouncing between tracks and feedback-based looping let you push ideas from simple sketches into dense, hypnotic soundscapes, all processed in high-headroom 32-bit float at 48 kHz with 24-bit converters.
Despite its depth, tape! is genuinely pocketable: roughly 71 × 59 × 15 mm, about 92 g, with a side-mounted wheel and top-panel buttons that give it the feel of a shrunken cassette deck. A bright 400 × 240 LCD, internal speaker and long-life rechargeable battery make it easy to work anywhere, from the studio desk to the train seat. With up to 45 minutes per virtual tape, 32 GB of internal storage, USB-C audio, MIDI 2.0 over USB and dedicated line out, tape! slips naturally into modern setups as a portable sketchbook, looper and performance-ready tape machine.
