Ignite

Open sourceDesktopDigital

A 64-channel sequencing workspace brings songs, scenes, tracks and patterns together on a tabletop instrument. Ignite combines a touchscreen with 16 RGB step pads, a dedicated encoder for each step, eight assignable knobs and separate Row and Bar encoders for hands-on editing and arrangement.

Patterns can span up to 16 bars of 16 steps, with scenes up to 200 bars and 96 PPQN timing. The documented workflow includes real-time recording, undo, fill, solo/skip, gang and sculpt operations, transpose and user-defined scales. An internal General MIDI sound engine provides sample-based sounds alongside external instrument sequencing.

Five pairs of MIDI DIN inputs and outputs, USB MIDI and USB host support for up to five devices connect larger setups. Eight CV outputs, eight Gate outputs, sync input and output, Wi-Fi and a shared line/headphone output extend the connections. Music Tribe publishes the Linux-based software source, while commercial release timing and pricing remain unconfirmed.

Ignite Source Code
developmentgithub
Ignite Source Code is Music Tribe’s official development software for the Behringer Ignite sequencer. It includes the touchscreen application, sequencing model, audio engine, hardware communication protocol and Linux system build. The documented workflow organizes songs, scenes, tracks and patterns across 64 channels, with MIDI, CV/Gate and an internal General MIDI sound engine. The Music Tribe application and libraries are licensed under AGPL-3.0-or-later. Developers need to provide a suitable General MIDI SoundFont and other omitted assets, and build a cross-compilation SDK for the device. The repository supplies development source; an official device firmware release is not yet provided.

Behringer, part of Music Tribe, is a controversial yet influential manufacturer known for making affordable audio equipment. In recent years, they have aggressively entered the synthesizer market by producing accessible clones of classic vintage instruments (Model D, RD-8, 2600) as well as original designs like the DeepMind. Their mission to double the market has brought analog synthesis to a wider audience than ever before.
