Back in the late '70s, the original SDS-3 from Simmons kicked off the drum synth revolution, letting players mic up real drums and turn them into wild analog percussion—now Behringer brings that same magic back with a spot-on recreation packed into a modern desktop module.

Each of its four identical monophonic analog voices packs a self-oscillating diode ladder filter and white noise generator, blended for everything from booming kicks to snappy snares, shimmering cymbals, or experimental hybrids. Hands-on knobs let you dial in pitch (doubling as a low-pass filter for noise), impact click for that stick-on-skin attack, decay, pitch bend, noise level, and sensitivity for mic or trigger inputs—plus per-channel sliders for level, LFO amount, and Run Time modulation. A shared LFO (square to sine, even audio-rate FM) and Master section add global pitch, rate, shape, and output tweaks, with velocity-sensitive triggers via 3.5mm mic ins, individual audio outs, MIDI/USB sequencing, CV/Gate, and expression pedal support.
