DS71 Dub Siren

DesktopHybridMonophonic

Inspired by the raw energy of classic drum-synth modules, this hybrid siren reimagines dub effects with a fully analog signal path for those thick, aggressive tones that cut through any mix.

At its core sits a voltage-controlled square wave oscillator tunable from 30Hz to 9kHz, paired with a 12dB/oct low-pass filter of fixed resonance and a discrete transistor VCA for punchy dynamics. A digital LFO unlocks eight preset waveforms across two banks—traditional sweeps in Bank A, wild experimental ones in Bank B—selected instantly via four trigger buttons or an external 1/4" TRS audio trigger input. Hands-on knobs handle tune, sweep (which doubles to pitch control in Sweep-to-Tune mode), decay, depth, rate, and volume, all feeding a balanced 1/4" TRS output. Compact at 130 x 145 x 60 mm and just 580g, it runs on a 12V DC center-positive supply and slots perfectly into Benidub's lineup as the modulation-rich standout among simpler sirens.

Users love its immediate usability for live dub sets and sound design, praising the fat analog bite and endless variety from button presses, though some note the fixed filter resonance limits subtle tweaks.
