The NuRAD R2 is a compact, highly expressive wind controller built for EWI and sax-style fingering, designed to turn breath, bite, and subtle embouchure changes into detailed performance control. Berglund Instruments says the R2 refines the original NuRAD with upgraded microprocessor, improved ergonomics, thicker rollers with a knurled center position, and a redesigned vibrato pad.
It features capacitive touch keys and rollers, proportional pitch-bend pads, a breath sensor, bite sensor, and lip sensor, plus a multidirectional vibrato/portamento touch pad. The instrument also includes a removable handle and neck strap, and it can run from AAA batteries, NiMH rechargeables, USB, or an optional internal LiPo battery depending on configuration.
At about 46 cm long and roughly 635 g, the NuRAD R2 stays portable while offering a wide control surface for expressive playing. It is an in-production controller introduced in 2024, aimed at players who want a responsive, modern wind instrument with deep performance nuance.
