DesktopAnalogPolyphonic

Inspired by the elusive RSF Polykobol from the late '70s, this synth reimagines that rare French classic with modern twists, delivering analog polyphony that's as expressive as it is massive.

Housed in a sleek desktop chassis measuring just 465 x 178 x 51mm, it packs eight voices, each with dual VCOs based on AS3340 chips and a suboscillator, offering continuous waveshaping from triangle through pulse to PWM for endless timbral evolution. A 24dB/oct SSI2144 lowpass filter anchors the sound, with keyboard tracking, resonance, and direct attenuators for velocity and poly aftertouch; twin digital ADSR envelopes and LFOs fuel a robust mod matrix where sources like aftertouch or velocity can target pitch, cutoff, waveshape, and more with positive/negative polarity. MPE compatibility, poly aftertouch keyboard, arpeggiator, portamento, unison modes, 384 presets, and USB/DIN MIDI make it a live performer's dream, all accessed via intuitive front-panel knobs and a small screen for patch tweaks.

Players love its immediate playability and huge, evolving tones for sound design and performance—common nods go to the modulation depth and MPE responsiveness, though some wish for multitimbrality to stack patches.
