Kijimi MkII

DesktopAnalogPolyphonic

Inspired by the elusive RSF Polykobol, a French polysynth from the late 70s produced in tiny numbers, this MkII edition revives that rare architecture with modern twists for today's sound explorers.

Housed in a compact 2.71kg desktop chassis, it packs eight fully analog voices, each with two CRN3340-based VCOs featuring continuously morphing waveshapes from triangle and saw to variable pulse, plus dedicated square sub-oscillators tunable an octave down. An SSI2140 lowpass filter delivers 24dB/oct smooth sweeps with self-oscillation, FM from VCO2, and hard sync options between oscillators. Modulation shines through two LFOs (sine, triangle, saw, ramp, square, random waves with AR envelopes and rates from 0.01-100Hz) routing to eight destinations like waveshape, sub amount, cutoff, resonance, and more, plus a matrix for velocity, poly aftertouch, and MPE. Hands-on controls include direct attenuators, two ADSRs with multi-speed ranges, global portamento, noise generator, 128 factory/1152 user presets (including banks from Mathew Jonson, Richard Devine, Paul Schilling), USB MIDI, stereo outs, and headphones.

Players love its immediate expressiveness for live performance and wild sound design, with poly aftertouch unlocking per-note evolution that feels alive under your fingers—though some note the dense panel rewards time to master.
