Back in 1999, this tiny red box kicked off a revolution in virtual modular synthesis, packing the brains of a full Nord Modular into something that fits in your pocket—perfect for sound designers who wanted endless patching without the cables.

At its heart, it's a digital virtual analog engine with 6 oscillators, 8 LFOs including random pattern generators, and multimode filters like lowpass, highpass, bandpass, notch, plus extras such as a 14-band filterbank and vocal filter. You get polyphony up to 4 voices depending on patch complexity, a deep mod matrix, built-in sequencer, and effects including delay, chorus, phaser, compressor, overdrive, and ring mod. Controls are super minimal: a sturdy metal chassis measuring just 210 x 120 x 40 mm, with a master volume knob, 3 assignable editing knobs, a button, and a simple 2 x 7-segment LED display. Dual analog audio inputs let you process external stereo signals, while outputs are stereo analog with 18-bit DACs at 96kHz, plus headphone out and MIDI In/Out via 5-pin DIN; PC/Mac editor ports handle patch creation with 99 onboard memories.
