West Pest

HybridMonophonic

Born from a collaboration with Pittsburgh Modular, this synth packs a pure analog oscillator into a compact semi-modular design that's as playful as it is powerful, channeling classic West Coast synthesis vibes.

At its heart sits a 100% analog VCO offering sine, triangle, and saw waveforms that you can mix and even FM modulate, feeding into a resonant wavefolder for those rich, harmonic overtones and a dynamics controller that delivers snappy plucks, bongo-like hits, or smooth swells—acting like a VCA, low-pass filter, and envelope all in one. A dual-range analog LFO (high: 2 Hz to 500 Hz; low: 41 seconds to 5 Hz) with square and triangle outs default-routes to key spots, while the digital multi-mod tool adds CV control, random generation, extra LFO, or envelope options via patch points. Fire up the 32-step sequencer with 13 presets, generative mode, or clock-synced arpeggiator—tweakable via MIDI, CV, or the built-in button keyboard—and you've got performance tools that sync internally or externally with tap tempo. Fully patchable with 20 points (18 on some counts), it ships in a desktop case but slides into Eurorack as a slim 40HP/25mm deep module drawing 250mA/+12V.

Players love its immediate Buchla-inspired sounds and randomization for endless inspiration, though some note the button keyboard feels basic for extended play. It's a gateway to West Coast weirdness without the full modular commitment.
