m8 MK1 Tracker Synthesizer + Sampler + Sequencer

DigitalPolyphonic

Inspired by the classic Gameboy tracker Little Sound DJ but built with modern power, this handheld wonder runs on a Teensy microcontroller to deliver tracker-style sequencing in your pocket.

At its core, it packs 8 monophonic tracks with 255 patterns, 128 instruments per song, and deep modulation via 256 tables, plus a live arranger for on-the-fly performance. Sound engines include wavsynth for chiptune crunch, a Mutable Instruments Braids-inspired macrosynth with 40 styles, 4-op FM with per-operator feedback, and unlimited stereo sampling from microSD with recording straight to wav. Controls revolve around a crisp 2.8-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen, clicky buttons for navigation, and shortcuts for layers like song, chain, phrase, and instrument views; connectivity covers stereo in/out, headphone jack, 3.5mm TRS MIDI I/O, USB, and a 1200mAh rechargeable battery for up to 6 hours. Effects like reverb, chorus, delay, and limiter sweeten the master bus, with velocity sensitivity and MIDI CC support for external gear.

Users love its intuitive workflow for quick ideas, versatile sound design that punches above its size, and portability for jamming anywhere—though the button combos take practice, and battery life demands planning for long sessions.
