FBT Electronica Synther-2000

KeyboardAnalogMonophonic

Back in 1973, this Italian gem emerged from FBT Electronica as one of the rarest monophonic synths ever made, with only a handful known to exist today—perfect for collectors chasing that elusive vintage vibe.

At its heart, it packs three VCOs, each pumping out sawtooth and square waves, plus noise generators on oscillators two and three for gritty textures. A single lowpass filter handles cutoff with per-oscillator levels and keyboard tracking, paired with a versatile envelope offering AD, single attack, or continuous repeat modes that act like a built-in arpeggiator. The 37-key keyboard skips pitch bend or mod wheels for a dedicated slider on osc-1 frequency—think Theremin-style sweeps—and a portamento-like glide control, all in a compact, no-frills analog chassis with mono out and CV support.

Vintage enthusiasts prize its raw, hands-on sound design and historical quirkiness, though its scarcity means service can be a hunt; those who've scored one call it a rewarding slice of early-70s subtractive magic.
