Future Retro Mobius

DesktopDigitalMonophonic

Back in 2001, this sequencer burst onto the scene as a bridge between vintage analog gear and modern MIDI setups, letting you drive TB-303-style basslines or any mono synth with effortless precision.

Housed in a rugged aluminum chassis that racks up 3U, it features a 16-step keyboard for non-dynamic note entry, complete with accents, glides at adjustable speeds, and loop points. Patterns run 12 or 16 steps in 4/4 or 3/4 time signatures, with 256 total patterns organized into 16 songs holding up to 3580 measures each—transpose them on the fly or chain for epic jams. Controls are intuitive via a numeric segment display, dedicated keys for tempo (20-250 BPM internal clock), and real-time editing whether running or stopped; rear DIN MIDI I/O/Thru handles sequencing and conversion to CV/Gate (1V/oct or Hz/V), DIN sync, Dynsync out, 5V trigger, and +12V positive/negative S-trig gate. Power it with an external 12VAC supply, and it even dumps data via MIDI SysEx for backups.

Over the years, players have praised its rock-solid reliability for live manipulation and hybrid rig integration, though some note the lack of dynamic velocity as a deliberate nod to classic step sequencing—perfect if you're chasing that raw, hands-on feel.
