Drone by Ghost in Translation is a four‑voice digital drone synthesizer in a compact 3U, 8HP Eurorack format, designed for long‑form textures and experimental sound design. Each of the four digital oscillators offers sine and resonant filtered noise, with front‑panel tuning controls for voices A, B, C, and D, plus dedicated 1V/oct inputs so you can treat them as individually pitched parts or lock them into dense clusters. A single Mix knob spirals and blends the four voices together while front‑panel LEDs show the activity of each voice, making it easy to sculpt complex layers by feel. The Shape control morphs the core timbre from pure sine into richly saturated, resonant noise, and can also be controlled via CV for animated timbral sweeps.
Behind the panel, Drone ties into a modern Motherboard platform built around Teensy processing and stereo 32‑bit DSP audio, with MIDI TRS Type A in and out for integration beyond the rack. It offers FM CV, individual v/oct, and CV over mix and timbre, giving deep modulation options even though the front remains free of patch points. The module is open source and DIY‑friendly, shipping as a PCB and panel set with SMD on the audio DAC PCB already populated, and using a rear‑mounted mono audio input plus stereo output on 3.5 mm jacks.
