Simple patterns can grow into longer, evolving compositions through generative melody controls and timed variations. Botanica is a hardware MIDI sequencer with a built-in synth voice, developed by Human Motives.
Sequences span one to 64 steps, with timed phrases over one, two, four or eight bars. Root, Semitones and Range controls work with preset scales called Seasons, while Blossom adds MIDI repeats with variable intervals and velocity curves. Pattern, Arpeggiator and Chord modes provide different ways to shape a sequence.
The instrument is in prototype testing. Its creator plans an initial run of five to ten units, with no release date promised; detailed synth-engine and audio-connection specifications remain unpublished.
