LD-2 Desktop Synthesizer

DesktopAnalogMonophonic

Imagine a compact analog beast that squeezes endless sonic chaos into a rugged die-cast aluminum box, ready to run on a single 9V battery for impromptu jams anywhere.

This semi-modular desktop synth packs two VCOs, each with its own sub-oscillator and per-oscillator noise generator, feeding into a versatile VCF and a switchable delay effect—bypass it for raw edge or keep it for swirling tails. Modulation is where it shines: a unique quad LFO (four mixed together) plus a single LFO for the oscillators, and CV/Gate inputs let you patch in external control to the VCOs, filter, or even audio in parallel through the signal path. The front panel brims with knobs for frequency, volume, filter cutoff, resonance, and mod depths, all in a no-frills layout that's intuitive for tweaking on the fly. Power it via center-negative 9V DC adapter or battery, with CV handling from -8V to +8V for modular integration.

Players dig its ability to shift from dreamy, LFO-modulated clouds to sharp drones and noisy stabs, calling out the filter's punch and delay's warmth as standouts in JMT's lineup of raw analog tools—though some note the unpainted metal shows wear from heavy use.
