JoMoX M.Brane 11

RackmountAnalogMonophonic

Imagine striking a drum skin and hearing those intricate wave interferences come alive purely from analog circuitry—that's the magic at the heart of this percussion synthesizer, born from JoMoX's knack for mimicking acoustic drums with electronics.

It packs two coupleable T-OSC membrane oscillators, each with independent tune and dampening controls that range from sharp, filter-like resonance to steady vibration, spanning 16Hz to 20kHz for snares, toms, bongos, or hats. White and metallic noise generators (with 65,535 pattern combos) mix in for realistic attacks, shaped by dual analog envelopes tied to a single decay parameter, plus a 6dB/oct low-pass filter and multi-trigger gate (up to 4 jittered pulses for flam effects). An LFO with 8 waveforms syncs to triggers for pitch modulation on one or both oscillators. Hands-on tweaks come via a data wheel, potentiometer, 5 buttons, 16 LEDs, and a 3-digit display, all in a compact 19" rackmount/desktop unit with MIDI In/Out, CV/Gate, adjustable trigger input, and a mono 1/4" out at 0dBu—powered by a simple 9V DC plug. Store up to 110 presets in RAM or ROM.

Over the years, players have praised its authentic drum tones that cut through mixes without digital artifacts, though some note the monophonic voice limits poly beats—still, it's a cult favorite for analog percussion heads chasing that irreplaceable vibe.
