i5M Interactive Music Module

DesktopDigitalPolyphonic

Back in 1995, this gem brought the full power of Korg's i-series interactive workstations into a compact module format, perfect for accordionists and players who wanted pro-level auto-accompaniment without the bulk of a keyboard.

At its core is Korg's AI2 synthesis engine—PCM-based with 32-voice polyphony, 334 keyboard sounds across four banks plus user areas, and 192 styles (128 preset, 64 user) for instant rhythms and backing tracks. It packs a 16-track sequencer for recording your performances, chord scanning via front-panel buttons or MIDI keyboard, and playback of Standard MIDI Files straight from the built-in floppy drive. Two stereo multi-effects units handle reverb, chorus, and more, while connectivity shines with stereo 1/4" ins/outs, headphone jack, full MIDI DIN (In/Out/Thru), and a pedal input. The front panel offers intuitive controls for tempo lock, octave shifts, volume/pan per track, split points, and real-time tweaks like sustain, sound hold, and fade-ins—making it a hands-on creative hub in a desktop chassis.

Players have long praised its surprisingly rich sounds and accompaniment quality for the era, especially those accordion-friendly styles, with the floppy drive still a reliable nostalgia trip for MIDI file jams today.
