At its core is the Altered FM engine with six operators, each switchable between FM, ring mod, filter, filter FM, wave folder, or effect modes, plus 40 preset algorithms and user-customizable ones for sounds from icy chimes to gritty basses. Hands-on controls include dedicated Ratio knobs and Level sliders for operators 1-6, six Data Entry knobs, mod and pitch wheels, plus a multimode filter modeling classics like the MS-20 and PolySix in lowpass, highpass, bandpass, and more. Three EGs, three LFOs, and a 12-slot virtual patch matrix fuel deep modulation, while the 16-step motion sequencer records up to six notes per step with velocity/gate tweaks and automates parameter changes. Thirty effects span chorus to shimmer reverb, with stereo outs, headphone jack, USB/MIDI DIN I/O, arpeggiator, and 500 programs (350 presets, 150 user).
