DesktopDigitalPolyphonic

Back in 2008, this drum machine stepped up as the successor to a '90s icon that defined affordable beat-making, packing over 500 fresh drum and percussion samples plus 50 bass tones into a super-portable footprint.

Its sample-based PCM engine delivers 32-voice polyphony with dynamic articulation for realistic velocity response across 12 velocity-sensitive pads, letting you switch seamlessly between drum kits, percussion banks, or bass lines in pattern play mode. A backlit LCD makes onstage tweaks easy, with a tempo/value dial, LED tempo indicator, and per-pad editing for volume, pan, tuning over two octaves, decay, and low-pass filtering. Built-in effects like reverb, EQ, and compression polish your sounds, while the sequencer handles 100 presets and 100 user patterns with mute/solo, fills, and footswitch control for start/stop or A/B fills. Measuring just 7.5 x 9.6 x 1.9 inches and 1.1 lbs, it runs on batteries or AC power, with MIDI in/out, instrument input for guitar, stereo main outs, aux, and headphone jack.

Players love its lush reverbs, editable sounds, and stage-ready portability for live triggering or layering with e-drums, though some note the sequencer feels basic for complex song progressions and wish for USB or expandable memory.
