Seven restless nodes flicker at the center, inviting you to coax everything from delicate droplets of tone to brutal walls of noise. Seofon by Madkids Empire is a self-contained experimental desktop instrument that turns chaotic analog behavior into a playable sound environment.
At its core, Seofon uses an organic noise generation circuit built around seven groups of interconnected nodes, the “seven kids” that give it its name. All sound comes from interfering with and extracting noise signals from these nodes, with three onboard pulse oscillators providing adjustable pulse width and both positive and negative phase outputs for richer, more complex textures. Information from the nodes is funneled into a filter, transforming microscopic shifts in the circuit into evolving rhythms, glitches, and timbres.
Available in a sculptural desktop format, Seofon comes in a standard version with metal touch contacts for direct, hands-on interaction with the circuit, plus left and right mono channels and a stereo output. The lit version forgoes the metal contacts and offers stereo outputs, putting the emphasis on visual feedback and pure signal routing. Compact yet substantial, it weighs around 520 g and measures approximately 13 cm by 29 cm by 3.8 cm, making it easy to drop into any experimental setup that craves noise, instability, and discovery.
