Pikoloops Lo-Fi Sample Mangler (Desktop)

DesktopDigitalMonophonic

Born from the open-source Pikocore project by Infinitedigits, this desktop lo-fi sampler takes gritty 8-bit audio destruction to your pedalboard or desk, powered by a Raspberry Pi Pico for endless glitchy experimentation.

It packs 8 minutes of 8-bit, 33kHz mono samples into its compact custom enclosure, running on standard 9V center-negative pedal power. A hands-on button interface lets you jump playback positions with single presses or unleash beat-synced effects like stutter, retriggers, tunneling, and gate via double-taps, all tempo-locked from 60-300 BPM. Dive into 8 parameter menus for real-time tweaks on its resonant lowpass filter, timestretch, wavefolding, and volume, while the 128-step sequencer records sequences with probability for unpredictable rhythms. Mono audio input mangles external sounds, with clock in/out and trigger out for syncing to your setup, plus USB-C for loading custom samples or firmware.

Players love its immediate tactile chaos for breakcore and experimental beats, though some note the raw lo-fi grit demands a taste for digital dirt over pristine audio.
