Xena (4P Version)

DesktopHybridPolyphonic

Born from the legacy of Mutable Instruments' Ambika, this desktop powerhouse breathes new life into classic digital poly synthesis with swappable analog filter cards for endless tweaking.

The 4P version packs six voices, each with two digital oscillators drawing from 36 wavetables and algorithms, plus a sub-oscillator that doubles as a transient generator for punchy attacks. A pre-filter overdrive and bit-crusher add grit before the signal hits the signature 4-pole low-pass VC integrator filter—a fuzzier, warmer take inspired by the Shruthi 4-Pole Mission. Controls revolve around an intuitive LCD screen for editing, with three ADSR envelopes, three per-patch LFOs, one global LFO, and a 14-slot mod matrix with modifiers for deep sound design. Voice mapping is wildly flexible: run it as full 6-voice poly, six monos, layered setups, or split unison bass and lead. Individual 1/4" outputs per voice, a mono mix out, 5-pin MIDI I/O, and included 12V PSU make it studio-ready in a compact metal chassis.

Players love its Mutable-inspired tones with Michigan Synth Works' rock-solid build, praising the UI for quick workflow and the filter swap system for experimentation—though some note it requires basic calibration tools for peak tuning.
