Turn the compact M-Vave FM-1 into a more capable standalone performance tool. Expander plugs into the FM-1’s USB port and acts as a USB host, opening up firmware management, project storage, MIDI routing, and clock conversion without requiring a computer.
Install custom firmwares such as SLOOP, X0X, and CTL-1, or return to the stock firmware directly from the box. Its song and project library can back up compatible FM-1 content, store multiple songs, and load the next project between tracks for computer-free live sets. Two TRS MIDI outputs carry notes, CC, and clock from the FM-1 to external hardware.
Expander also provides sync input and output, with clock profiles for Pocket Operator, Volca, Eurorack, and 24 PPQN setups. Feed it analog clock from a modular system or drum machine, use its internal clock as master, or send MIDI clock back to the FM-1. The project is currently a working prototype, with open-source schematics, PCB files, and firmware planned for release.
