Launched in 2000 as Roland's powerhouse upgrade to the JV series, the XV-3080 packed a massive 1083 waveforms into its ROM, including stereo pairs that delivered lush, dynamic tones right out of the gate.

This rackmount module runs a sample-plus-synthesis engine where Patches layer up to four stereo Tones—each with dual LFOs, pitch/TVF/TVA envelopes, and time-variant filters—for incredibly expressive sounds. It handles 128-voice polyphony across 16 multitimbral parts, with GM2 compatibility and drum kits on any channel. Controls come via a backlit LCD, data wheel, dedicated buttons for modes like Patch, Performance, and Rhythm Set editing, plus Matrix Control assigning up to four MIDI sources to destinations like filter cutoff or effect sends. Effects shine with 63 multi-FX types (overdrive to quad delay), plus chorus and reverb inspired by Roland's pro studio gear; four stereo outs and slots for SRX-64MB or SR-JV80 expansions make it endlessly versatile. At 1U size, it's a compact beast with balanced XLR/TRS outputs.
