Melodies that remember where they came from feel alive in a way static sequences never do. Helical takes that idea and turns it into a complete polyphonic voice for your rack, letting phrases evolve organically instead of just looping.
Sdkc Instruments’ Helical is a 16‑voice polyphonic Eurorack synthesizer built around an autoregressive algorithmic engine that continuously generates new sequences from its own past states. Each voice contains its own sequencer, wavetable oscillator, envelope, and VCA, so the module behaves like a compact ensemble rather than a single oscillator bank. The result is a stream of evolving chords, motifs, and textures that are related over time yet never simply random, ideal for ambient soundscapes, generative patches, or kinetic melodic lines.
At its core, Helical uses wavetable synthesis with user-editable tables loaded from the front-panel SD card. You can create and modify wavetables in Synthesis Technology’s WaveEdit, swap scales and LED color sets via the dedicated editor, and treat the module as a deeply personal, tunable generative instrument. Autoregressive sequencing ties pitch, duration, and envelope behavior together so that each note helps shape the next, making Helical a powerful source of endlessly shifting musical structures inside just 16HP. Powered at 48 kHz / 24-bit with CV inputs designed for ±5 V, it integrates cleanly into modern Eurorack systems while offering an engine unlike anything else in your case.
