MultiTrak

KeyboardHybridPolyphonic

Launched in 1985 as Sequential's bold step up from the Six-Trak, this polysynth packed six voices of pure analog warmth into a sleek, portable desktop design that fit right into the era's push for affordable sequencing powerhouses.

Each voice runs on a CEM3394 chip delivering a single analog VCO with triangle, sawtooth, and pulse waves plus PWM, paired with a resonant low-pass VCF, sub-oscillator, noise, and three ADSR envelopes—one each for VCA, VCF, and LFO amount. The five-octave velocity-sensitive keyboard supports splits with assignable points, and MIDI handles multi-timbral duties across channels. Editing flows through a smart 4x10 LED matrix with nudge buttons and a central encoder for the 40 parameters, while the sequencer holds 1600 notes (or up to 4000 steps across four tracks), arpeggiator, and stereo chorus add lush depth. It stores 99 patches internally, dumpable to cassette, with mono individual outs plus stereo main.

Vintage enthusiasts cherish its punchy, characterful tones and studio-ready workflow, though some note the menu-diving edit system feels dated next to modern knobs—still, serviced units sing with that classic Sequential vibe worth hunting down.
