Lyra-8 Organismic Drone

DesktopAnalogParaphonic

Imagine a synthesizer that doesn't follow the rules of traditional oscillators, drawing instead from the quirky tone generators of vintage electric organs to birth alive, unpredictable drones.

At its heart, this paraphonic analog beast packs eight touch-sensitive "keys" that trigger independent voices, each with its own waveshape, pitch tuning, envelope, and vibrato—groupable into pairs or quads for organ-like chords or wild FM synthesis where voices modulate each other. A Hyper LFO, blending two oscillators via sum or multiply modes with sync, drives modulation across voice groups and the dual delay lines, which feature cross-feedback, resonance, self-modulation from their own output, and CV control for chaotic, lo-fi echoes. Distortion hits last, letting delays feed into gritty overdrive, all feeding a stereo main out, mono headphone jack, and external audio input; CV ins handle pitch, delay time, and hold gates. The compact 10.5 x 10.5 x 2.4-inch aluminum enclosure feels solid, with chunky knobs and pressure-sensitive pads inviting endless tweaking.

Players love how it rewards experimentation, spawning everything from serene ambient pads to feral noise storms, though the steep learning curve keeps it from casual noodling—perfect for sonic explorers in SOMA's lineup of boundary-pushing gear.
