Therevox ET-4.3

KeyboardAnalogMonophonic

Handcrafted with a nod to the Ondes Martenot's golden era, this instrument swaps traditional keys for a continuous-pitch ring and dual pressure-sensitive intensity keys that let you sculpt amplitude on the fly with fingertip nuance.

At its core, two independent analog oscillators deliver six waveforms each—sine, triangle, rectified sine, square, 30% pulse, 10% pulse, plus white noise—spanning six octave ranges from low 32' to 2'. A low-pass filter with resonance control pairs with a spring reverb and dry/wet mix for lush, organic tones, while an effects loop and external audio input route outside sounds through the signal path. Controls include dedicated hold knobs for each oscillator's volume, independent stereo outputs, headphone jack, and CV outputs for ring pitch plus intensity keys; MIDI over USB in four modes (including dual-channel) bridges it to software or hardware seamlessly. Dual expression pedal/CV inputs assign to pitch bend, Osc 2 PWM, or volume, all housed in a sturdy wooden body powered by a 16VAC adapter, with a swappable reference keyboard for custom scales.

Players love its tactile expressiveness and vintage warmth, often praising the ring's intuitive glissandi and reverb's haunting vibe, though some note the learning curve for pitch precision pays off in uniquely emotive performances.
